As a Senior Communications Officer, you’ll play a key role in supporting senior communications colleagues and managers to deliver impactful campaigns and day-to-day communications activity. Your work will span a wide range of projects – from supporting local services to shaping borough-wide priorities – and no two days will be the same.
This role offers the opportunity to grow your skills while working on high-profile communications. You’ll be part of a friendly and collaborative team that champions creativity, innovation and integrity in everything we do.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Supporting the planning and delivery of effective communications, media and marketing activity.
- Developing and managing creative content for print and digital platforms, including social media and the council website.
- Identifying reputational risks and supporting media responses in a timely and professional way.
- Collaborating with services and councillors to provide clear, accessible messages for residents, partners and staff.
- Monitoring the success of campaigns and activities, using insight and evaluation to continuously improve outcomes.
- Managing small-scale budgets and briefing designers, suppliers or internal teams to deliver quality outputs.
- Helping to keep internal communications fresh and engaging using a range of staff channels.

You’ll have:
- Experience delivering communications, PR, marketing or media activity.
- Excellent writing skills with a strong eye for detail.
- Confidence working across digital and print channels.
- The ability to balance multiple priorities and meet deadlines under pressure.
- A good understanding of reputational risk and political sensitivity.
- Strong interpersonal skills – able to build positive relationships with colleagues, councillors and external partners.
- You’ll also need to be comfortable using digital tools, social media platforms and content management systems (WordPress experience is a bonus).
