An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Additionally Resourced Provision for Children with a Visual Impairment at Dalton J I and N School. The successful candidate will support a child with visual impairment both in class and one to one on specified programmes.
Children within The Provision and from across the authority are taught and supported by a combination of QTVIs, specialist VI ETAs, braille and large print technicians, habilitation specialists and family support workers.
We are looking for a candidate who has experience of working in schools with children with a range of Special Educational Needs, with the desire to develop their skills specifically in the field of Visual Impairment. The team is constantly evolving and developing their knowledge and there will be the opportunity to work alongside experienced ETAs and Qualified Teachers of Visual Impairment within The Provision to develop the skills and knowledge needed to work successfully within the team and with children in provision and on caseload with visual impairment.
Responsibilities:
- Be an enthusiastic and committed team player
- Have a child centred, flexible approach
- Have excellent time management skills and the ability to work on their own initiative
- Perform the tasks and duties of an Educational Teaching Assistant in line with the SEND Code of Practice, Children and Families Act 2014 and The Quality Standards for Specialist Teaching and Support Services for Visually Impaired Children.
- Provide tailored support for individual children and small groups within the Additionally Resourced Provision.
