We are looking to appoint an experienced and enthusiastic Landscape Architect to join our expanding team and manage a wide range of projects through all design stages for a temporary period covering maternity leave.
Role Overview: The role requires collaborative working, engagement with stakeholders and strong technical expertise to develop, design, and support sustainable landscape solutions for several high‑profile programmes of work. Projects include environmental improvements of Kirklees Homes and Neighbourhoods, highway and cycle schemes, and play areas for the Playable Spaces programme. The role demands self‑motivation, creativity, and community engagement to design greener spaces that address the climate emergency and health and well‑being priorities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the design and delivery of landscape improvements across multiple programmes.
- Collaborate with stakeholders, community members, and council teams to develop sustainable solutions.
- Produce technical design and documentation across all project stages.
- Manage project deliverables to meet deadlines and quality standards.
- Support environmental strategy objectives and address climate impacts.
Requirements:
- Member of the Landscape Institute with post‑qualification experience, or working towards chartered status.
- Experience in effectively managing projects to meet objectives, prioritising multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Strong technical, design and documentation capabilities across a wide range of project types.
- Proficient at designing, problem‑solving, and creating sustainable, innovative spaces.
- Excellent teamwork and community engagement skills.
- Full and valid driving licence required.
Working Arrangements: We offer a flexible hybrid approach – working from home and office, with on‑site and virtual meetings.
Location: Huddersfield and surrounding areas.
Contract & Salary: Temporary position for Autumn 2026. Salary range £38,220 – £47,181.
