Highfields And Its Staff

Highfields is a day service for adults with learning disabilities and complex health needs. Service users come to our safe, informal, and friendly place to meet others and take part in activities that will help maintain their health and life enjoyment. It also gives family members and carers a break from their caring roles.

The centre is warm and welcoming, with different bases for service users including Daisy, Bluebell, Jasmin, and Poppy. All bases are decorated with colourful and engaging artwork. We also have a garden for service users, with a greenhouse, sensory walk, and seating area. We also have a communal area for activities, sensory and therapy rooms available for service users that require higher levels of support.

Our team are passionate about their work and having a positive impact in the day-to-day lives of our service users, promoting choice and providing health support, making a real difference to the individuals that access our service. You will join a highly skilled staff team who support people to set and achieve personal goals and aim for positive outcomes. We recognise that some people require high levels of support, but we ensure that they have opportunities to be involved in activities that are meaningful to them.

The Role

You will have strong leadership skills including organisational, communication and strategic thinking and be dedicated to promoting excellent care practice and support the smooth running of the service through leading the team.

In this role, you will be expected to represent the service at meetings, conferences etc., presenting a positive image of the Service and communicating its values, aims and objectives at all times. You will set the standards for high quality customer service through the way in which you respond to people who come into contact with the services.

You will be flexible in your approach recognising that the needs of people who rely on the service should always be at the forefront of your thinking. You will be passionate about making a difference.

You will be aware of the policies and procedures the service adheres to, and as the Team Leader, you will need to ensure your team are appraised of the tasks set for the day. You will ensure that all risk assessments are completed and understand the need to keep service users and staff safe by undertaking positive risk assessments and movement and handling assessments.

You will be friendly and personable as a large part of your role will be to establish and maintain relationships with service users and relatives, as well as other professionals and support networks.

You will need to have a good understanding of medication administration and have excellent documentation skills in all aspects of recording.

The comfort and wellbeing of our service users is paramount, and you will need the skills to work with complex and diverse cases to meet individual needs in a sensitive and effective way under diverse circumstances.

Transport is a big part of our service provision, and you will have the skills and flexibility to support this area of service.
