Location: Multiple sites

Hours and Weeks per Year: 18.5 hours / 40 weeks

We are looking for a motivated and student‐centred Student Community Development Officer to develop and deliver an engaging, inclusive and responsive cross‐college programme of enrichment and personal development activity. This is an exciting opportunity to make a visible difference to students' wellbeing, confidence, sense of belonging and employability while helping to strengthen student voice and Students' Union activity across the College.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver a vibrant calendar of enrichment, wellbeing, social action, volunteering and personal development activities that respond to student needs and interests.
  • Work with colleagues and external partners to create inclusive activities that are accessible to all students, including students with SEND, maximising progression into employment.
  • Bring experience of working with young people in an education, community or youth work setting, along with the energy and creativity to design activities that make a real difference to the progression of our students.
  • Build relationships with students, colleagues and external organisations, and motivate participation across a diverse student community.
  • Support planning, group sessions, and events, and promote positive behaviour throughout college.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Minimum of a Level 2 qualification in literacy and numeracy (e.g. GCSE English and Maths at grade A*-C).
  • Experience of working with young people and adults, including vulnerable and disadvantaged young people and those furthest from the job market.
  • Excellent communication skills, a commitment to the welfare of young people in education and willingness to undertake relevant staff development.
  • Ability to converse at ease with members of the public and provide advice in accurate spoken English.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults.
