In the role of Head of Capital Projects you’ll predominantly be based at Waterfront, Huddersfield and your focus will be on leading the College's capital investment programme, ensuring projects are planned, governed and delivered safely, compliantly and efficiently to enhance the estate, support learner experience and achieve organisational objectives.
Your key responsibilities will be leading the College's capital projects and estate improvement programme, ensuring projects are strategically planned, effectively governed and successfully delivered. The role oversees project delivery, procurement, contractor and consultant management, capital budgets, project governance and statutory compliance, including CDM responsibilities. Working closely with stakeholders across the College, the postholder ensures that capital investment supports curriculum priorities, enhances the learner experience, improves estate performance and delivers value for money, while translating the strategic direction of the College into a coordinated and deliverable capital programme.
Ideally, you’ll have a degree, HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in Construction, Building Surveying, Project Management, Engineering or a related discipline (or be able to prove equivalent ability) and demonstrable experience in successfully delivering construction, refurbishment or capital projects. It’s important that you’re able to effectively manage projects, budgets, contractors and stakeholders, communicate technical information clearly to a range of audiences, and build positive working relationships across the College and demonstrate our College values of Kindness, Unity and Excellence in your role.
