You’ll play a vital front‑line role in tackling environmental anti‑social behaviour, helping to keep our neighbourhoods safe, clean and welcoming for everyone. This is a varied and people‑focused role where no two days are the same. - Engaging with individuals, communities and groups to promote environmental responsibility and improvement
- Investigating complaints and concerns, gathering evidence and preparing case files where enforcement action is required
- Issuing warnings, notices and fixed penalties in line with legislation, council policy and best practice
- Supporting legal proceedings where necessary, including preparing statements and attending court
- Working collaboratively with internal teams and external partners to deliver shared environmental objectives
What we’re looking for
You’ll be confident, resilient and able to communicate effectively with a wide range of people. You’ll know when to take an educational approach and when firm enforcement is required. You’ll also need:

- Confidence to speak to individuals and groups, including children and adults, about environmental responsibilities
- A sound understanding of health and safety and safe working practices
- A full, clean driving licence and willingness to pass a Kirklees Council driving assessment
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends when required
Why work for Kirklees?
You’ll be part of a supportive, purpose‑driven team making a real difference to the borough. In return, we offer:
- A secure permanent role
- Competitive local government salary and pension
- Opportunities for development and training
- The chance to contribute directly to environmental improvement and community wellbeing
