Upperthong Junior & Infant is a warm and welcoming school committed to ensuring children are at the heart of everything we do. We are looking to recruit a Senior Teaching Assistant to provide tailored support for children with specific needs alongside general classroom support. The role involves working closely with a small number of children in KS2 who have SEMH needs, ADHD, or challenging behaviour. This temporary position offers a salary of £20,358-£21,380 per annum, with 32.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday (8.45-3.45pm). The contract runs until 31st August 2027.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 and small group support, implementing bespoke behaviour plans.
- Deliver de‑scalation techniques and trauma‑informed care.
- Support children in classroom activities and outdoor learning.
- Work with teachers to improve pupil engagement and reduce exclusions.
- Record and monitor behavioural progress.
Ideal Candidate
- Previous experience working with children with SEN/SEMH in a primary setting.
- Strong behaviour management skills with a patient, nurturing and empathetic approach.
- Team‑Teach certification is highly desirable.
- Ability to build rapport with disengaged pupils.
- Calm under pressure with a positive, enthusiastic outlook.
