FUSION HOUSING works across the Kirklees, Calderdale and Wakefield districts of West Yorkshire, providing help for our communities to find and maintain housing through legal advice, employment support, learning opportunities, supported accommodation and local food bank provision.

Hours: 29.6 - 37 hours per week (hours negotiable)
Salary: Band 6A - £36,763 - £39,085 per annum
Contract: Permanent
Location: Huddersfield (Pearl House, 10 John William Street, Huddersfield, HD1 1BA) with travel to Dewsbury, Wakefield and Halifax.

Role summary: Do you want to use your Health and Safety expertise to help create safe, supportive environments for people facing homelessness and food poverty? An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Health and Safety professional to join our long‑established Charity, playing a key role in ensuring robust compliance and delivering a proactive, high‑quality Health and Safety service across the Organisation.

We are seeking a motivated and knowledgeable Health, Safety and Compliance practitioner who can work independently, manage a varied workload and apply their expertise to support staff and strengthen safe, compliant working practices across our diverse services, properties and community settings. The role includes:

  • Ensuring Fusion Housing meets its statutory, regulatory and organisational responsibilities relating to health and safety, risk management and compliance, with particular consideration for the needs of vulnerable service users.
  • Maintaining safe environments for staff, service users, stakeholders and visitors across accommodation projects, community spaces and office locations.
  • Supporting the Senior Management Team to embed a positive safety culture throughout all Fusion services, properties and operational activities.
  • Providing professional advice, carrying out inspections and audits, developing policies and procedures, coordinating training and promoting best practice in line with legal requirements and sector standards.
