Overview: The children, staff and Governors wish to recruit an enthusiastic, highly motivated and experienced 1:1 SEND Educational Support Assistant into our school community to play a key role supporting the needs of a specific pupil in Reception. Flockton CE (C) First School is a warm and welcoming rural village school that is deeply rooted in its community and is committed to ensure our pupils successfully branch into the future. All members of our school community have a determination to ensure every child’s needs are met which results in a supportive, inclusive culture throughout with a strong family feel.

  • Have experience of working with pupils within the EYFS or implementing an Early Years play-based curriculum
  • Have experience in supporting children with additional needs – particularly those with complex social communication and interaction needs and sensory difficulties.

Experience of the following statements would be desirable, although relevant training will be provided:

  • Have experience with use of a Total Communication Approach to enable pupils to communicate their needs and preferences effectively, when verbal communication is challenging. For example; objects of reference/talking mats.
  • Have some experience of implementing an intensive interaction approach to support the development of social communication skills in pupils who have a diagnosis of Autism or complex learning difficulties.
