We are recruiting an Equipment and Stores Officer (Grade 6) to join the Kirklees Caretaking and Cleaning Service. Our service supports around 900 staff across 200 sites, including schools, council buildings and partner organisations. This role plays a key part in ensuring our teams have the cleaning materials, equipment and technical support they need to deliver high‑quality services.
About the Role
As an Equipment and Stores Officer, you will be responsible for occasionallydelivering cleaning materials when required, equipment and specialist machinery to sites across Kirklees. You will carry out repairs, servicing and fault resolution on cleaning machines and ensure all portable electrical equipment is tested regularly in line with health and safety requirements.
You will maintain accurate stock levels, support the ordering process and use computer systems to monitor orders and produce regular information reports.
This role involves regular contact with customers, providing advice, support and a high standard of service.
What We Are Looking For
- Ability to carry out work of a physical nature
- Experience using computers and digital systems
- A basic Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) qualification or willingness to achieve one
- Experience repairing and servicing equipment or machinery
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to plan and prioritise your own workload
- A full and valid driving licence. You will either use a council vehicle or your own car to travel to sites across Kirklees.
