Why This Role?

As Service Manager – Asset Management, Sustainability and Performance, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping the future of council housing in Kirklees. You’ll lead the development and delivery of our £300m capital investment programme, ensuring our homes are safe, sustainable, and meet the needs of our residents – now and in the future.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Lead the development and implementation of the Asset Management Strategy and 30‑year Housing Capital and Revenue Investment Plan.
  • Oversee the strategic planning and delivery of capital investment programmes, ensuring compliance with safety and housing standards.
  • Manage complex projects and programmes, ensuring delivery on time, within budget, and to high standards.
  • Use data and intelligence to inform strategic investment decisions and long‑term investment planning.
  • Collaborate with tenants, elected members, and partners to shape the improvement plans for Council homes.
  • Champion decarbonisation and retrofit initiatives across council housing stock and develop a Council housing decarbonisation strategy.
  • Lead and support a team of technical and asset management professionals.
  • Strategic management and lead for external funding submissions to maximise external funding opportunities that can support and improve our Council homes and bring forward new supply.
  • Ensure robust programme governance, risk management, and performance reporting.

What We’re Looking For:

  • HNC or Degree in Construction, Housing, or Project Management (or equivalent).
  • Professional qualification in project/programme management (e.g. PRINCE2, MSP, APM).
  • Proven experience leading complex housing or asset management programmes.
  • Strong contract, performance, and budget management skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
  • Knowledge of housing standards, building safety, and compliance frameworks.
  • A collaborative leader who can inspire teams and drive continuous improvement.
