Kirklees Council, Homes and Neighbourhoods (H&N) is responsible for the repairs and maintenance of almost 22,000 homes and 300 public buildings across Kirklees. Working with our communities it is our vision to provide, ‘Quality Homes and Services in successful communities’.

As an Electrician working for H&N you will travel throughout Kirklees and the surrounding areas to deliver the duties of this role and meet the needs of the organisation and our customers. You will be required to work as part of a team and independently to deliver quality repairs, maintenance and installations to a high standard.

To be considered for the role it is essential that you:

  • Have excellent communication and customer care skills to effectively liaise with a variety of customers and clients both internally and externally.
  • Have served a recognised electrical apprenticeship.
  • Possess a level three NVQ in electrical installation (or equivalent); an 18th edition wiring regulations qualification and ideally C&G 2391 (or be willing to work towards C&G 2391).
  • Have experience of domestic electrical installations, in particular, a proven track record of rewires, small installation, responsive work inspection and testing in domestic properties.
  • Have experience of domestic and commercial electrical installations, in particular, a proven track record of inspection, testing and certification.
  • Specialist experience of any of the following would be advantageous: Security systems, fire alarms, emergency lighting, mobility equipment, data installations.
  • Have a Full UK valid driving licence.

You will be expected to work flexibly, around core hours, based on an annual hours allowance with the needs of the business being the priority. This is currently based around an average of a 37-hour week. You may also be required to work overtime and be a participant on the call out rota as requested by management .
