Woodley School and College is a Kirklees Local Authority special school focused on improving the Quality of Life for children and young people with autism aged 5-19. We are looking to appoint enthusiastic and highly motivated HLTA’s to join our committed and friendly team of happy and hardworking staff and children. You will share our vision for high standards in all aspects of school life and will support learning and improve students’ communication, independence and achievement, working alongside the class teacher.
Responsibilities
- Assist with planning, resourcing and delivery of lessons under the direction of the class teacher.
- Cover weekly PPA and short‑term absences, including training staff and managing sickness, for no longer than five consecutive days without further mutual agreement.
- Support building trust and confidence, team commitment, and engagement among pupils with autism.
- Maintain a flexible, reflective and self‑evaluating practice to continually improve the quality of learning throughout the school.
- Communicate effectively with pupils, families and colleagues from diverse backgrounds.
Qualifications
Ideally candidates will hold a HLTA specific qualification; if not, strong demonstrable classroom teaching delivery and planning experience must be evidenced. We will support any successful candidate who is not yet qualified to complete the HLTA qualification.
