The Senior Leadership Team and Governors of Warwick Road Primary School are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and highly motivated Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant. All candidates must display resilience and determination and understand the diverse needs of children with SEND.

Duties will include:

  • Provide dedicated support for a child with additional needs who requires individual assistance to access learning, as well as being able to nurture the child’s social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs.
  • Willing to under PEG (percutaneous Endoscopic Gastrostomy) feeding training is essential, as the child needs peg feeding twice per day.
  • Working under the guidance of the SENCO and the class teacher to plan and deliver activities to meet children’s needs.
  • Providing personal and intimate care if needed.
  • Ensuring all children can access the curriculum
  • Implementing behaviour plans, ANPs, MSPs and EHCPs
  • Contributing to SEND reviews and ANP evaluations

You will need to have the following experience/attributes:

  • Understand the rewards, demands and challenges of working with children with additional needs
  • Previous experience of working with children with Special Educational Needs would be an advantage, as would knowledge/experience of Safer Handling and Team Teach.
  • Be flexible and prepared to adapt to the changing needs of the school
  • Be an excellent role model
