Hours: 20 hours a week, plus 10 hours – 06:00 – 08:00 am Monday to Friday or 3:30 pm – 5:30 pm Monday to Friday for each post.

Role Overview: Battyeford CE (VC) Primary School is a successful, dynamic and inclusive Church of England school serving a diverse community, intensely focused on the specific and varied needs of our children. We are looking to appoint a Cleaner to join our team of staff and play a vital role in the day-to-day running of our school. You will ensure that the site and its buildings are operated and cleaned on a day-to-day basis to the standards required. There will be a cleaning duty included as part of this role. You will line manage the cleaning staff.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain the highest possible standards of hygiene and cleanliness in a manner which is safe for the post holder, colleagues, and other building users.

Qualifications:

  • Able and willing to use powered machinery (with instructions).
  • Able and willing to move furniture (e.g., desks and chairs) around, as required.
  • Able and willing to use stepladders (if required).
  • Willingness to clean e.g., sweep, mop, polish and dust, including toilet areas.
  • Ability to positively interact with colleagues, parents, pupils, and the community, and willingness to contribute to the caring ethos that exists within the school is essential.
  • Good understanding of health and safety, and the procedures necessary to keep our site, staff, pupils, and visitors safe.
  • Flexibility to deal with emergencies that may arise outside of normal working hours and accommodate projects/maintenance needs during school holidays; occasional late-night duties particularly during polling days or special events.
  • Previous school caretaking experience would be beneficial, but not essential.
