Responsibilities- Carry out examination and inspection of Building Regulation submissions, plans, and site work to ensure compliance with Building Regulations, including non‑domestic projects.
- Assist the Building Control Team Manager with operations within the Borough and undertake inspection/work throughout Kirklees.
- Consult and liaise with other sections and departments.
- Ensure Building Control work is carried out in accordance with procedures, timescales and deadlines.
- Participate in the Dangerous Structure Rota to provide an out‑of‑hours emergency service, including standby and call‑out payment.
- Grade 10 or above, with a BTEC Higher National Certificate/Diploma or Degree in building or equivalent.
- Licensed with the Building Safety Regulator as a Registered Building Inspector at Class 2A or above.
- Knowledge of building regulations.
- Experience in building control / building regulatory work.
- Ability to carry out all types of domestic and residential inspections.
- Ability to determine new dwelling and simple commercial applications.
- Ability to deal with dangerous structures following assessment by a senior colleague.
- Part of a professional qualification: RICS, ABE or equivalent.
