Pivot Academy invites applications for a Speech and Language Therapist to support children and young people from Key Stages 2–5, many of whom have an EHCP or are in the process of applying for one. The role involves delivering high‑quality assessments and interventions, developing support plans, training staff, liaising with families and external professionals to enhance learner well‑being and achievement.

Location & Work Details

West Yorkshire – based across multiple sites with regular travel. 35.5 hours per week, term time plus 10 days. Permanent employment. Salary: £34,000 – £42,000 (actual).

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver specialist speech and language assessments and high‑impact interventions that remove barriers to communication, engagement, and social skills progress.
  • Create and oversee personalised therapy and intervention programmes, supporting and training staff to ensure learners achieve meaningful outcomes aligned with EHCPs and support plan needs.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, support staff, families and professionals to embed communication and interaction knowledge and skills across the whole school environment and sites.
  • Build staff confidence and capability through training, coaching and modelling inclusive communication strategies and best practice.
  • Play a key role in shaping inclusive, accessible learning environments while contributing to transitions, reviews and whole‑school approaches to speech, language and communication needs.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Strong commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
  • Qualified and registered Speech and Language Therapist with HCPC registration and up‑to‑date professional development; ideally experienced in education or specialist settings.
  • Strong specialist expertise in speech, language and communication needs, with the ability to plan, deliver, and measure the impact of effective interventions.
  • Confident collaborator and communicator across a variety of audiences, with the ability to provide training and advice to build wider school capacity.
  • Highly professional, values‑driven and inclusive, with excellent organisational, ethical practice and a genuine commitment to improving outcomes, well‑being and equity for learners.

Additional Requirements

  • Full driving licence and access to a vehicle required due to travel between sites.
