Kirklees Council is hiring two Social Workers for the Batley Hub. One position is permanent (37 hours per week) and the other is fixed‑term up to 12 months (30 hours per week). Both roles are based in Batley and Spen (North Kirklees) and fall under the Adults & Health Directorate.

Overview

You will work as part of the Batley Community Wellbeing Team, carrying out initial assessments, reviews and safeguarding enquiries for vulnerable adults. You will support people at risk of self‑neglect, hoarding and those with complex needs, and you may be asked to attend Integrated Neighbourhood Team meetings for the fixed‑term role.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct initial assessments, reviews and safeguarding enquiries for vulnerable adults and their carers.
  • Work with adults aged 18+ who have physical, sensory, or mental health needs, including those with self‑neglect or hoarding behaviours.
  • Make eligibility determinations under the Care Act 2014 and apply the Mental Capacity Act 2005 to support self‑directed care.
  • Engage in multi‑agency working with health and social care professionals to achieve best outcomes.
  • Represent Adult Social Care at Integrated Neighbourhood Team meetings (fixed‑term position).

  • Excellent communication and multi‑agency working abilities.
  • Compassionate, person‑centred approach to care.
  • Understanding of Adult Social Care processes, the Care Act 2014 and the Mental Capacity Act 2005.
