You will work in our Development Management team, joining our proactive, dynamic and friendly team. The work is varied, working with a wide range of services and partners to deliver the Council’s ambitions for Kirklees, including supporting our exciting regeneration plans for Huddersfield and Dewsbury.

Responsibilities:

• Ideally, you will already have a degree in planning or related subject or experience in the field as well as some experience of dealing with a caseload of planning applications and planning processes.
• Responsible for the processing of planning, advertisement consents, listed building applications and other planning matters.
• Undertake site inspections and consultations within agreed targets, timescales and priorities.
• Respond to enquiries from applicants, agents and developers, advising on planning and related permissions and the procedures.
• Discuss, consult and negotiate on proposals; prepare reports and formulate recommendations on planning applications.
• Required to travel independently across the district to satisfy the duties of the post and a current driving licence is desirable.
