Hinchliffe Mill Junior and Infant School is looking to appoint an enthusiastic, caring and organised 1:1 Educational Teaching Assistant to support a pupil with SEND from September 2026. We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated practitioner to work as part of our team supporting a child in Year 5 with an Education, Health and Care Plan. The child has Down syndrome, is a delight to work with, and is a valued member of our school community.

Location: 1 Hollin Brigg Lane, Holmbridge, Holmfirth HD9 2PG.

Position type: Temporary, Grade 6, contract from 1 September 2026 to 31 August 2027, 32.5 hours per week (term time + 1 day). Salary £19,713 – £21,011.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Providing 1:1 support within the classroom and during activities
  • Supporting learning across the curriculum, including English and maths
  • Helping to develop communication, social and independence skills
  • Working closely with the class teacher, SENCO and external professionals
  • Supporting the implementation of the child’s EHCP
  • Promoting inclusion, confidence and wellbeing
