In the role of Lecturer in Maths you will be based at one of our Huddersfield sites and your focus will be on delivering curriculum, using a range of digital resources, to ensure our learners receive a high quality and relevant learning experience.

Key responsibilities:
  • Teaching students as required at any of the centres utilised by Kirklees College.
  • Managing the effective organisation of the course by the establishment of such syllabuses, schemes of work and any records as determined by the College including an effective induction programme.
  • Maintaining class registers, lists of students and records of their work and engage in such administrative work directly associated with the enrolment and registration of students.
  • Ensuring that each learner has completed an Initial Assessment, Induction and an Individual Learning Plan.
  • Monitoring and assessing students in accordance with the requirements of the programme and to contribute to the Quality Improvement Strategy, including Internal/External Verification.
  • Ensuring effective and appropriate learning support is provided for students on the course.
  • Co-ordinating the course/s and ensure that quality improvement strategies are implemented and complied with.
  • Contribute to curriculum development, design and delivery in response to changing requirements and new demands.
  • Ensuring that the course/s of students are effectively delivered in line with Awarding Body requirements.
  • Ensuring the student Positive Behaviour Policy is implemented in line with College guidelines.
  • Conducting student interviews, attending Open Days/Evening Events and to manage the admissions/enrolment process for the course/s in liaison with the College's Admissions staff.
  • Working with the Head of Faculty, Curriculum Area Manager and course team members in providing management information and ensuring the completion of necessary administration procedures.
  • Setting and monitoring targets for student enrolment, attendance, punctuality, retention and achievement, and report on these factors as required.
  • Developing and managing the innovative use of course materials and resources.
  • Attending and contributing to area meetings.
  • Participating in any liaison activities relevant to the course/s.
  • Embedding safeguarding into your/your teams working practices and escalating any safeguarding concerns immediately in line with the College's safeguarding policy.
  • Embedding Health and Safety best practices and ensuring a safe working environment for everyone within your area of responsibility, according to the Health and Safety at Work Act.
  • Being a champion and advocate for Equality and Diversity throughout College.
  • Behaving in a manner that displays British values.
  • Being committed to reviews of your performance and your own Continuous Professional Development.
  • Any other duties commensurate with your role that may be required from time to time.
Qualifications and experience:

Ideally, you will have a suitable A'Level maths qualification, or a related Degree and PGCE (or be able to prove equivalent ability) and demonstrable experience in TLA. It is important that you are able to communicate effectively, engage with young people and demonstrate our College values of Kindness, Unity and Excellence in your role. Due to the nature of our work, it is essential you are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults.
