At Kirklees College we are looking for talented individuals in teaching & learning roles. In this role you will be based at one of our Dewsbury sites and will focus on delivering the maths curriculum using a range of digital resources to ensure learners receive a high‑quality, relevant learning experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Teach students as required at any of the centres utilised by Kirklees College.
  • Establish syllabuses, schemes of work and any records as determined by the College, including an effective induction programme.
  • Maintain class registers, student lists and records of their work, engage in administrative work directly associated with enrolment and registration.
  • Ensure each learner has completed an Initial Assessment, Induction and an Individual Learning Plan.
  • Monitor and assess students in accordance with programme requirements and contribute to the Quality Improvement Strategy, including Internal/External Verification.
  • Provide effective and appropriate learning support for students on the course.
  • Co‑coordinate courses and ensure quality improvement strategies are implemented and complied with.
  • Contribute to curriculum development, design and delivery in response to changing requirements and new demands.
  • Ensure courses are effectively delivered in line with awarding body requirements.
  • Implement the student Positive Behaviour Policy in line with College guidelines.
  • Conduct student interviews, attend Open Days/Evening Events and manage the admissions/enrolment process in liaison with the College's Admissions staff.
  • Work with the Head of Faculty, Curriculum Area Manager and course team members to provide management information and ensure completion of necessary administration procedures.
  • Set and monitor targets for student enrolment, attendance, punctuality, retention and achievement and report on these factors as required.
  • Develop and manage the innovative use of course materials and resources.
  • Attend and contribute to area meetings.
  • Participate in any liaison activities relevant to the course(s).
  • Embed safeguarding into your team’s working practices and escalate any safeguarding concerns immediately in line with the College's safeguarding policy.
  • Embed Health and Safety best practices and ensure a safe working environment in accordance with the Health and Safety at Work Act.
  • Act as a champion and advocate for Equality and Diversity throughout College.
  • Behave in a manner that displays British values.
  • Commit to reviews of your performance and your own Continuous Professional Development.
  • Carry out any other duties commensurate with the role that may be required from time to time.

Qualifications and Experience

Ideally, you will have a suitable A-Level Maths qualification or a related Degree and PGCE (or be able to prove equivalent ability), and demonstrable experience in Teaching, Learning and Assessment (TLA). You must be able to communicate effectively, engage with young people and demonstrate our College values of Kindness, Unity and Excellence. Due to the nature of our work, you must be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults.
