Catering Assistant

Job Title: Catering Assistant

Salary: £24,250 FTE (per annum)

Location: Huddersfield

Hours and Weeks per Year: 30 hours / 38 weeks

We are currently recruiting for a Catering Assistant at our Waterfront Quarter, Huddersfield site. Working as part of a team, supported by the Catering Team Leader, your focus will be on providing an excellent refectory service with a welcoming yet professional approach to providing students and staff with a high standard of quality food which is healthy, inclusive of a wide range of dietary requirements, and is value for money. Excellent customer service skills are integral to the role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work as part of a team; place orders with stores, manage deliveries including lifting and stacking shelves and fridges and temperature checks.
  • Prepare, cook, present and serve food and drinks.
  • Ensure compliance with the college\'s food safety policy and Health and Safety regulations.
  • Keep the kitchen and refectory clean, hygienic and tidy.
  • Handle cash & use a till.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Level 1 Food Hygiene certificate (desired).
  • Previous experience working in a kitchen and in a customer‑focused catering role.
  • Enhanced DBS (required).

  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to engage with students and staff and demonstrate college values of Kindness, Unity and Excellence.
