We are seeking a motivated and customer-focused Agricultural Machinery Sales Representative to join our growing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for promoting and selling agricultural machinery, equipment, and related products to growers, contractors, and agricultural businesses. This role requires strong relationship-building skills, commercial awareness, and a good understanding of modern farming practices and agricultural machinery.
Key Responsibilities
- Sales & Business Development
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective customers.
- Promote and sell new and used agricultural machinery and equipment.
- Identify customer needs and recommend suitable machinery solutions.
- Achieve sales targets and maximise profitability.
- Generate new business opportunities through prospecting, farm visits, demonstrations, and networking.
- Prepare quotations, finance proposals, and sales documentation accurately.
- Customer Relationship Management
- Provide excellent customer service before, during, and after sales.
- Maintain regular contact with customers to build long-term relationships.
- Resolve customer concerns and liaise with service and parts departments where required.
- Support customers with product knowledge and operational guidance.
- Product Demonstrations & Technical Knowledge
- Conduct machinery demonstrations on customer sites.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of agricultural machinery, precision farming technology, and industry developments.
- Attend manufacturer training courses and product launches.
- Explain machine features, benefits, and technical specifications clearly to customers.
- Territory Management
- Plan and manage customer visits efficiently within the designated territory.
- Maintain accurate records of customer activity, quotations, and sales opportunities using CRM systems.
- Monitor competitor activity and market trends.
- Participate in agricultural shows, open days, and promotional events.
- Administration & Compliance
- Complete all sales paperwork and reports accurately and on time.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, finance procedures, and health & safety standards.
- Support stock management and machine handover processes where required.
Skills & Experience Required
- Previous sales experience within agricultural machinery, farming, automotive, commercial vehicle, or related industries.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills.
- Good understanding of farming operations and agricultural equipment.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Agricultural background or farming experience.
- Knowledge of precision farming and GPS technology.
- Existing customer relationships within the agricultural sector.
- Relevant agricultural or engineering qualifications.
