POSITION OVERVIEW
The Practice Operations Manager (POM) supports a senior partner who holds strategic and executive roles on the Firm Committee and across the European region, while leading the London office and its largest transactional practice group. Working closely with the partner’s Executive Assistant, office leadership and business services teams, the Practice Operations Manager is responsible for providing the partner with operational and management support, ensuring they are able to focus on their practice, leadership initiatives, and client engagement strategies.
Under the partner’s direction, the POM manages the operational delivery of projects and events, while coordinating the day-to-day functioning of the practice. The POM plays an important role in ensuring practice group cohesion and is involved in managing HR concerns, planning and delivering team events, and supporting graduate and lateral recruitment. The Practice Operations Manager acts as a key liaison between the partner, internal stakeholders and Firm leadership, ensuring clarity, follow-through, and strategic execution.
This is a broad, evolving role combining project management, leadership, and coordination responsibilities, and requiring flexibility, initiative, and a hands-on approach. The Practice Operations Manager must balance strategic oversight with operational execution, acting as a trusted behind-the-scenes facilitator of success. The ideal candidate is a highly organised professional with excellent judgement, discretion, and emotional intelligence. They must be able to manage competing priorities, anticipate operational needs, and provide high-impact support in a fast-paced and often high-stakes environment.
