Our client is looking to appoint a Semi Senior Accountant to join their growing practice. Working with a varied portfolio of sole traders, partnerships and limited companies, the successful candidate will provide high-quality accounting, taxation and business support while delivering excellent client service.

This role is ideal for an organised and proactive accounting professional with strong technical knowledge, excellent attention to detail and experience managing multiple client deadlines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare statutory accounts from a range of accounting records.
  • Complete bank, control account and ledger reconciliations.
  • Prepare and submit VAT returns, corporation tax computations and personal tax returns.
  • Assist with management accounts and financial reporting.
  • Support bookkeeping activities and maintain accurate financial records.
  • Build strong client relationships and respond to queries professionally.
  • Liaise with HMRC and other external bodies where required.
  • Use accounting software including Sage, Xero, QuickBooks, Digita and IRIS.
  • Visit client sites where necessary to provide bookkeeping or accounting system support.
  • Ensure work is completed accurately and within agreed deadlines.

About the Candidate

The successful candidate will have:

  • Experience preparing accounts within an accountancy practice.
  • ACA, ACCA or AAT qualification, part qualification, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience using Sage, Xero and QuickBooks.
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills with a client-focused approach.
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Experience with Digita or IRIS, management accounts, forecasting or internal audit would be advantageous.
