Bookkeeper

Our client is seeking an experienced Bookkeeper to join their growing team.

The role involves maintaining financial records, processing transactions, preparing VAT and CIS returns, and supporting the production of management information.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage bookkeeping using Xero, Dext, and other cloud-based accounting systems.
• Process financial transactions, maintain sales and purchase ledgers, and complete bank and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Prepare and submit VAT and CIS returns accurately and within deadlines.
• Assist with the preparation of management accounts and financial reports.
• Maintain accurate, compliant, and audit-ready financial records.
• Investigate and resolve discrepancies, escalating issues where appropriate.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships, providing timely support and responding to queries professionally.
• Prioritise workloads effectively to meet deadlines and contribute to continuous process improvements.

Skills & Experience

Essential

• Previous bookkeeping experience within an accountancy practice or similar environment.
• Proficiency in Xero and cloud-based accounting software.
• Strong attention to detail with excellent organisational skills.
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines and work independently.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.

Desirable

• AAT qualified or studying towards an AAT qualification.
• Experience preparing VAT and CIS returns.
• Knowledge of Dext or similar document management software.
• Exposure to payroll, purchase ledger, or credit control.
