An exciting opportunity has arisen for a part-time Pharmacy Technician to join our team. We are seeking an enthusiastic, friendly, motivated and qualified candidate who will play a key role in supporting medicines optimisation, ensuring safe, effective and cost-efficient prescribing, and improving patient outcomes across the practice population.
Main duties of the job include:
- Supporting the surgery's clinical team on a part-time basis by managing medicines optimisation, improving prescription safety, and reducing the administrative prescribing burden on GPs.
- Using EMIS Web to deliver high-quality, patient-centred care within their professional scope of practice.
- Liaising with local pharmacies and hospitals regarding prescribing queries, optimum therapy, to improve prescribing safety, quality, and cost effectiveness.
- Processing and updating patient medication from hospital discharge and clinic letters.
- Actioning and processing medication alerts, raising awareness within the practice.
- Helping plan, develop and support the introduction of new working processes within the practice to optimise the quality of prescribing.
- Overseeing patients on shared care drugs, ensuring recalls and protocols are in place to ensure safety and appropriate use of medicines and their management.
- Supporting the Clinical Pharmacist to provide medication reviews, patient information leaflets, and cost effectiveness of prescribing.
- Ensuring maintenance of accurate patient records and ensuring all relevant information is documented in the patients' medical records in a timely manner.

Person Specification:
- Qualifications: Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC). BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Pharmaceutical Science (or equivalent). Enrolled in or completed the CPPE Primary Care Pharmacy Technician Pathway.
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of post-qualification experience. Prior experience managing part-time workflows or job-sharing in a GP surgery. Hands-on experience using EMIS Web in a primary care setting.
- Knowledge and skills: Excellent time-management skills to maximise part-time hours. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to build custom EMIS search templates for clinical audits. Proficiency in EMIS prescribing modules and task management.
