Your New Role

Kirby Group Engineering are experiencing a period of significant growth and so our multidisciplinary engineering design and construction team is having to expand. We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented AutoCAD Technician who ideally has proven experience in the Power and Renewables (HV) industry to join our dynamic engineering team. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to critical infrastructure projects across the UK, supporting the design and delivery of high voltage electrical systems. Kirby Group Engineering work and partner with renowned industry-leading Clients, Contractors and Consultants. We are highly regarded in the industry and so you will contribute to this reputation of engineering and construction excellence.

What You'll Need To Succeed

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD (2D essential; 3D desirable).
  • Strong understanding of electrical schematics, layout drawings, and civil interfaces.
  • Familiarity with UK DNO/IDNO standards and specifications.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Desirable

  • Experience with BIM/Revit or other 3D modelling software.
  • Knowledge of CDM regulations and utility mapping.
  • HNC/HND or equivalent in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and update detailed engineering drawings, layouts, and schematics.
  • Generate as-built drawings after project completion.
  • Convert hand sketches or scanned images into digital CAD drawings.
  • Coordinate with other disciplines to resolve clashes or interferences.
  • Maintain drawing revision history and ensure version control.
  • Assist in the preparation of tender drawings, shop drawings, and final documentation.
  • Comply with internal CAD quality standards and drawing templates.
  • Attend design review meetings and incorporate feedback promptly.
