Role Purpose:
As the Electrical Quality Engineer you will be responsible for a number of projects within the business unit, providing leadership and expertise and monitoring the progressive performance of Inspection and Test activities. The position will support project(s) from pre-construction phase to successful project handover with all quality control deliverables.
Electrical Quality Engineer Responsibilities:
- Lead by example in the areas of ethics, EHS, cultural sensitivity, diversity, teamwork, quality culture and behaviors.
- Establish close working relationships with cross functional departments (Planning, Engineering, Operations, Commissioning, EHS, etc.) including supply chain and client stakeholders.
- Develop & maintain Project Quality plans and Inspection and Test plans to ensure project compliance. Continuously monitor the effectiveness of the quality program and update as required
- Develop project quality program and provide training to site team for implementation
- Conducting project lesson learned workshops with supply chain and project team to prevent recurrence of issues.
- Implement Walkdown planning and 2-week lookaheads. Measure performance of planned vs actual
- Complete incremental Internal Audits to verify implementation of the QMS and the Quality Plan.
- Provide support and guidance with implementation of the Quality & LEAN Construction Policy
- Monitor KPI (Key Performance Indicators) on planned vs actual, checklist completion, issues / snags, room readiness and system/area handover.
- Continuously monitor the effectiveness of the quality program and support improvement as required.
- Implement a First of Kind / Benchmark program and monitor installations & progress of completion. Ensure Benchmarks / First of kinds are visible to all project personnel.
- Be proactive in identifying areas of improvement and create suitable action plans to improve project performance (Snags, Checklists, Supply chain, Trends, Risk, etc.)
Necessary requirements of the Electrical Quality Engineer
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent Electrical trade qualification
- 5 years Quality management experience in an Engineering & Construction Environment
- HV / MV Substation, Transmission & Distribution Experience advantageous
- HV /MV Cable Jointing Experience advantageous
- Knowledge of relevant industry standards applicable to the contract scope of works
- Ability to lead root cause analysis techniques and implement corrective actions
- ISO9001 auditor certification and experience.
- Knowledge to scope, plan and execute risk review
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Provide technical and professional guidance for teams
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational / planning skills
- Able to create and implement quality control process and procedures
