Electrical QC Engineer | Power & Renewables | Ireland

Role Purpose

As the Electrical Quality Engineer you will be responsible for a number of projects within the business unit, providing leadership and expertise and monitoring the progressiveperformance of Inspection and Test activities.

The position will support project(s) from pre-construction phase to successful project handover with all quality control deliverables.

Electrical QC Engineer Responsibilities

  • Lead by example in the areas of ethics, EHS, cultural sensitivity, diversity, teamwork, quality culture and behaviors.
  • Comply with all Project EHS requirements i. e. PPE, work Permits, procedures, etc. Where required, support the development of project specific method statements.
  • Understand Kirby values, Quality policy and create a culture of “being proud of the projects we deliver” & “Right first time” amongst the team.
  • Establish close working relationships with cross functional departments (Planning, Engineering, Operations, Commissioning, EHS, etc.) including supply chain and client stakeholders.
  • Liaise with Kirby Autodesk ACC team for field space creation and project custom attributes.
  • Develop, maintain, and monitor Inspection and Test Plans and checklists approvals in line with submittal due dates.
  • Develop and agree Test Pack List and Contents with relevant project stakeholders.
  • Define and develop the system limits and/or system boundaries for test pack with agreed contents including tracking of each test pack.
  • Implement QR code tagging and tracking of free issued and procured equipment/plant.
  • Encourage progressive compilation of lessons learned during project execution.

Conducting project lesson learned workshops with supply chain and project team to prevent recurrence of issues.

  • Compilation of hard copy and/or digital test packs for projects handover. Tracking issues/ snags and driving closeout with project team ensure data integrity maintained.
  • Review benchmark / first of kind schedule and report progress.
  • Review and monitor instrument, measuring and test equipment calibration certificates.
  • Monitor Power-bi analytics for accurate project reporting on issues, checklists, planned vs actual.
  • Ensuring data integrity across BIM 360 project platforms ensuring raised issues are assigned correctly with categorisation, due date, owner, responsible party, etc.
  • Monitoring KPI performance and supply chain performance. Development of action plans where required.
  • Promote a positive quality culture onsite.
  • Identify and recognise operatives going above and beyond to deliver quality excellence onsite.
  • Completing root cause analysis and monitor corrective actions where required.
  • Necessary requirements of the Electrical QC Engineer
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent Electrical trade qualification
  • 5years Quality management experience in an Engineering & Construction Environment
  • HV / MV Substation, Transmission & Distribution Experience advantageous
  • HV /MV Cable Jointing Experience advantageous
  • Knowledge of relevant industry standards applicable to the contract scope of works
  • Ability to lead root cause analysis techniques and implement corrective actions
  • ISO9001 auditor certification and experience.
  • Knowledge to scope, plan and execute risk review
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Provide technical and professional guidance for teams
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational / planning skills
  • Able to create and implement quality control process and procedures
  • Travel throughout IRL projects required
