We are seeking an experienced and motivated HV Substation Protection & Control (P& C) Design Engineer to join our growing engineering team.

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in the design, development, and delivery of protection and control systems for high-voltage substations.

Working on complex transmission and distribution projects, you will be responsible for developing innovative and reliable protection schemes, control system designs, substation automation solutions, and communication architectures that ensure the safe and efficient operation of electrical power networks.

The successful candidate will work closely with multidisciplinary teams, clients, equipment vendors, and third-party design consultants to deliver industry-leading solutions that comply with national, international, and utility standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design HV substation protection and control systems for transformers, transmission lines, busbars, and switchgear.
  • Develop protection philosophies, relay settings, control schematics, and interlocking schemes.
  • Support SCADA integration, communication architectures, and IEC 61850-based solutions.
  • Perform protection coordination, fault analysis, and system studies.
  • Produce and review technical documentation, drawings, specifications, and reports.
  • Support testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and system upgrades.
  • Liaise with clients, contractors, consultants, and multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Review third-party designs and ensure compliance with project and industry standards.

Requirements

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Experience in HV Substation Protection & Control design.
  • Strong understanding of power system protection, control, and substation automation.
  • Knowledge of IEC, IEEE, ANSI standards and IEC 61850 protocols.
  • Experience with power system and design software such as ETAP, DIg SILENT, EPLAN, Helinks, or similar.
  • Excellent technical, analytical, and communication skills.
