Position Overview

We are experiencing a period of significant growth and need a skilled and detail‑oriented AutoCAD Technician to join our multidisciplinary engineering design and construction team. This role offers a permanent position with a considerable portfolio of work for the next 5 + years. You will contribute to critical infrastructure projects across the UK, supporting the design and delivery of high‑voltage electrical systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and update detailed engineering drawings, layouts, and schematics
  • Generate as‑built drawings after project completion
  • Convert hand sketches or scanned images into digital CAD drawings
  • Coordinate with other disciplines to resolve clashes or interferences
  • Maintain drawing revision history and ensure version control
  • Assist in the preparation of tender drawings, shop drawings and final documentation
  • Comply with internal CAD quality standards and drawing templates
  • Attend design review meetings and incorporate feedback promptly

Qualifications

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD (2D essential; 3D desirable)
  • Strong understanding of electrical schematics, layout drawings and civil interfaces
  • Familiarity with UK DNO/IDNO standards and specifications
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills

Desirable

  • Experience with BIM/Revit or other 3D modelling software
  • Knowledge of CDM regulations and utility mapping
  • HNC/HND or equivalent in Electrical Engineering or related discipline
