We are seeking a Commercial Lead to drive the commercial performance of our Power & Renewables Business Unit across the UK and Ireland. This senior leadership role involves ownership of all commercial activities, from early‑stage opportunity assessment and tendering through to project delivery and final account, ensuring risk is managed, value is maximised, and commercial strategy aligns with business growth objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate all commercial activities across the Power & Renewables Business Unit.
  • Drive revenue, margin and cash‑flow performance through effective reporting and cost management.
  • Establish and implement optimal commercial structures aligned with Business Unit and Group strategy.
  • Strengthen commercial capability and awareness across the wider team.
  • Tendering, Contracts & Negotiation
    • Lead commercial input across tendering, bid strategy and project selection.
    • Drive commercial negotiations through bid stage, contract signing and project delivery.
    • Interpret contractual obligations, ensuring compliance and protecting the business position.
    • Evaluate and mitigate commercial, financial and programme risks.
  • Project Delivery & Controls
    • Support full project lifecycle delivery, from tender through to final account.
    • Oversee cost control, reporting and commercial governance across projects.
    • Audit live projects to ensure accuracy, compliance and performance improvement.
    • Collaborate closely with Operations, Engineering, Planning and QS teams.
  • Risk & Governance
    • Identify and manage commercial and contractual risk across the Business Unit.
    • Implement mitigation strategies and escalate key issues with clear recommendations.
    • Ensure adherence to company policies, QA processes and commercial frameworks.
    • Maintain accurate records and robust audit trails to support decision-making.
  • Client & Growth Focus
    • Support the commercial management of key client relationships and framework agreements.
    • Contribute to strategic growth of the Power & Renewables portfolio in the UK & Ireland.
    • Work with leadership to shape long‑term commercial and market strategy.
  • Team Leadership & Development
    • Lead, mentor and develop the Business Unit commercial team.
    • Promote a high‑performance culture and continuous improvement.
    • Support structured training and development programmes.
  • Supply Chain & Process Excellence
    • Manage subcontractor and vendor commercial terms, obligations and payments.
    • Implement lean process improvements and continuous optimisation.
    • Ensure efficient, accurate and timely commercial reporting.

Requirements

  • Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics or a related commercial / engineering discipline.
  • Proven experience in a senior commercial or QS leadership role within engineering or construction.
  • Strong background in power, energy or infrastructure projects (renewables preferred).
  • Demonstrated expertise in contracts, commercial strategy and risk management.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management, negotiation and leadership skills.
  • Commercially driven with a strong analytical and process‑oriented mindset.
  • Availability to travel to offices and sites regularly in Ireland & the UK.
