Position Overview

KIPP Academy Lynn Charter School is seeking a passionate, equity-driven Middle School English Lead Teacher to join our team of relentless educators. We are looking for talented and culturally competent professionals who are committed to ensuring all students are affirmed, valued, and challenged daily. At KIPP MA, we build joyful and rigorous classrooms grounded in care, high expectations, and culturally responsive teaching to help students grow into confident readers, writers, and thinkers.

Key Responsibilities

Classroom Responsibilities

  • Serve as a lead or co-lead teacher in one or more English Language Arts classrooms
  • Create a classroom culture where students feel affirmed in their identities and motivated to grow as readers and writers
  • Prepare and internalize rigorous, engaging lessons aligned to standards and curriculum resources (e.g., Wit & Wisdom, Writing Revolution)
  • Set ambitious academic goals and use data to drive instruction and monitor student progress
  • Deliver differentiated instruction that challenges all students and meets their individual needs
  • Maintain a positive, structured classroom environment using school-wide systems and proactive behavior strategies
  • Regularly analyze student work and data to refine instructional practice
  • Maintain accurate records of student grades and initiate regular communication with families

School and Professional Responsibilities

  • Obtain required MTEL and SEI endorsements (KIPP MA provides financial and study support)
  • Participate in all professional development, including summer training and weekly coaching
  • Collaborate closely with grade-level and content teams to ensure consistency and shared responsibility for all students
  • Build meaningful relationships with families through consistent phone calls, texts, and school events
  • Perform additional duties including hallway transitions, lunch coverage, dismissal, and classroom coverage as needed
  • Demonstrate consistent and dependable attendance aligned to the school calendar
  • Embody KIPP MA’s Code of Conduct by acting with integrity, leading with humanity, and taking personal responsibility
  • Engage in professional development and school community events
  • Demonstrate effective time management, organization, and strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Build strong relationships and manage conflict productively with students, families, and colleagues
  • Adapt instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners, showing emotional intelligence and flexibility
  • Meet physical expectations of the role (e.g., mobility for classroom movement, ability to carry up to 20 lbs., restrain a student in emergencies if needed)

Qualifications

  • Deep alignment with KIPP MA’s mission and values, including a belief in the potential of all students
  • 2+ years of full-time teaching experience preferred
  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • Demonstrated success in driving student growth and building a positive classroom environment
  • Strong passion for English Language Arts instruction and culturally responsive teaching practices
  • Must pass all required criminal background checks

Salary Range: $55,000 to $89,500 (based on experience and degree level)

  • $1,000 signing bonus
  • $2,000 annual retention bonus (starting in year two)
  • Additional bonuses as eligible

Advanced Degrees:

  • +$3,000 for first advanced degree
  • +$1,500 for second advanced degree
