We're working with an established engineering consultancy looking to strengthen its Bristol team with an experienced Senior Structural Engineer.
This is a client-facing position leading building design projects across a varied portfolio including residential, commercial, industrial, education and healthcare.
You'll take projects through design and delivery, coordinate with architects and wider design teams, and provide technical leadership to engineers and technicians within the team.
They're looking for someone with strong UK consultancy experience who is confident designing across reinforced concrete, steel, timber and masonry, and has already taken responsibility for leading building structures projects.
- What You Will Be Doing
- Lead structural design projects from concept through to completion across a varied portfolio of building projects.
- Develop practical and efficient structural solutions using reinforced concrete, steel, timber and masonry.
- Manage and coordinate engineers and technicians, allocating resources and ensuring project information is delivered accurately, on time and within budget.
- Work closely with architects, clients and multidisciplinary design teams to develop coordinated structural solutions that support the wider design intent.
- Produce and review structural calculations, drawings, specifications and technical documentation, ensuring designs are appropriately checked before issue.
- Attend client, design team and site meetings, taking a proactive role in project communication and delivery.
- Ensure structural designs consider buildability, sustainability, health and safety and relevant technical requirements throughout the design process.
- Support the commercial delivery of projects, including preparing fee proposals and contributing to new project opportunities.
Skills & Experience Required
- Strong structural engineering experience gained within a UK engineering consultancy environment.
- Proven experience leading the structural design and delivery of building projects.
- Good design experience across the principal structural materials including reinforced concrete, steel, timber and masonry.
- Project experience across sectors such as residential, commercial, industrial, education or healthcare.
- Strong technical understanding of building structures with the ability to develop practical and commercially appropriate design solutions.
- Confident working directly with clients, architects and multidisciplinary design teams.
- Experience coordinating and supporting engineers and technicians within a project environment.
- Degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or a closely related discipline.
- Good commercial awareness with the ability to manage deadlines, resources and project requirements.
- Proficient with Auto CAD and relevant structural design software.
