Senior Mechanical Design Engineer I Chandlers Ford An established engineering business within the water, environmental and infrastructure sectors is looking for an experienced hands-on mechanical design professional to join its engineering team. This is an opportunity for an experienced Designer, Draughtsperson or Mechanical Design Engineer who has spent much of their career producing engineering drawings and 2D/3D models and is now ready to take the next step. You will remain actively involved in design and drawing work while taking on additional responsibility for coordinating design activities, supporting site teams and helping ensure projects are delivered accurately and effectively. Key Duties & Responsibilities Produce detailed 2D and 3D engineering drawings and models for mechanical engineering projects Develop designs from initial site requirements through to detailed design and construction drawings Produce plans, elevations, sections and technical details for project and installation teams Work with AutoCAD, MicroStation and other relevant design software Coordinate design requirements with engineering, project and site teams Review drawings, models and technical information for accuracy and practicality Support the coordination of site activities and ensure design information meets project requirements Assist with surveys and translate site information into practical engineering designs Provide technical guidance and support to other members of the design team Take increasing responsibility for coordinating design work and project delivery Skills & Experience Required Strong hands-on mechanical design or draughting background Significant practical design experience, ideally around 10 years or more Strong experience producing engineering drawings and 2D/3D models Good working knowledge of AutoCAD, MicroStation or similar CAD/design software Experience taking mechanical designs from initial requirements through to detailed drawings Ability to interpret engineering information, site requirements and technical specifications Some experience coordinating with site teams, engineers or other project stakeholders Comfortable remaining hands-on with drawings and design rather than moving into a purely managerial position Ready to take the next step into a role with greater technical and coordination responsibility Experience within Mechanical Engineering, Water, Pumping, Civil Engineering, Construction or a related environment would be beneficial HND or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering advantageous, although relevant practical experience will also be considered Site surveying experience would be beneficial Summary Position: Senior Mechanical Design Engineer Location: Chandlers Ford Duration: Permanent, full time Salary: £60,000 to £65,000 + bonus & benefits Start: Notice dependent This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced hands-on Designer, Draughtsperson or Mechanical Design Engineer who is ready to step up, take on greater responsibility and continue using their technical design skills.
