We are working with a specialist aerospace and defence electronics manufacturer seeking a Maintenance and Facilities Manager to take ownership of site operations at their Edenbridge facility in Kent. This is a hands-on leadership role focused on equipment reliability, building safety and continuous improvement within a regulated manufacturing environment. The position plays a critical role in supporting production uptime, compliance and site security.
Working closely with site leadership, production and compliance teams, you will take responsibility for maintaining plant, facilities and infrastructure while leading preventive maintenance activity and contractor management.
Key Responsibilities- Own all planned and reactive maintenance across plant, machinery, buildings and site infrastructure.
- Deliver and manage the planned preventive maintenance schedule to maximise uptime and reliability.
- Respond to breakdowns and faults, minimising downtime and protecting production output.
- Manage spares, parts and materials to support maintenance activity and reduce operational risk.
- Support machine installations, relocations and upgrades in line with production requirements.
- Ensure full compliance with health, safety, statutory and regulatory standards across the site.
- Act as site Security Officer, maintaining security systems and controls to required standards.
- Oversee contractors and suppliers, ensuring safe working and policy compliance at all times.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, documentation and KPI reporting to drive improvement.
- Work closely with site leadership, production and compliance teams to support operational performance.
- Proven experience in a maintenance or facilities management role within a manufacturing environment.
- Electrical competency to BS7671 18th Edition or equivalent.
- Strong working knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical systems.
- Clear understanding of health and safety requirements including risk assessments, COSHH, PPE and permit to work systems.
- Experience supporting regulatory and statutory compliance in manufacturing environments.
- Confident managing contractors, suppliers and service agreements.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage priorities in a hands-on role.
- Effective communicator, comfortable working independently and within cross-functional teams.
- Competent user of Microsoft Office including Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
- Completed apprenticeship with relevant GCSEs or equivalent manufacturing experience.
