Senior Mechanical Design Engineer I Chandlers FordAn established engineering business within the water, environmental and infrastructure sectors is looking for an experienced hands-on mechanical design professional to join its engineering team.
This is an opportunity for an experienced Designer, Draughtsperson or Mechanical Design Engineer who has spent much of their career producing engineering drawings and 2D/3D models and is now ready to take the next step.
You will remain actively involved in design and drawing work while taking on additional responsibility for coordinating design activities, supporting site teams and helping ensure projects are delivered accurately and effectively.
Key Duties & ResponsibilitiesProduce detailed 2D and 3D engineering drawings and models for mechanical engineering projectsDevelop designs from initial site requirements through to detailed design and construction drawingsProduce plans, elevations, sections and technical details for project and installation teamsWork with AutoCAD, MicroStation and other relevant design softwareCoordinate design requirements with engineering, project and site teamsReview drawings, models and technical information for accuracy and practicalitySupport the coordination of site activities and ensure design information meets project requirementsAssist with surveys and translate site information into practical engineering designsProvide technical guidance and support to other members of the design teamTake increasing responsibility for coordinating design work and project deliverySkills & Experience RequiredStrong hands-on mechanical design or draughting backgroundSignificant practical design experience, ideally around 10 years or moreStrong experience producing engineering drawings and 2D/3D modelsGood working knowledge of AutoCAD, MicroStation or similar CAD/design softwareExperience taking mechanical designs from initial requirements through to detailed drawingsAbility to interpret engineering information, site requirements and technical specificationsSome experience coordinating with site teams, engineers or other project stakeholdersComfortable remaining hands-on with drawings and design rather than moving into a purely managerial positionReady to take the next step into a role with greater technical and coordination responsibilityExperience within Mechanical Engineering, Water, Pumping, Civil Engineering, Construction or a related environment would be beneficialHND or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering advantageous, although relevant practical experience will also be consideredSite surveying experience would be beneficialSummaryPosition: Senior Mechanical Design EngineerLocation: Chandlers FordDuration: Permanent, full timeSalary: £60,000 to £65,000 + bonus & benefitsStart: Notice dependentThis is an excellent opportunity for an experienced hands-on Designer, Draughtsperson or Mechanical Design Engineer who is ready to step up, take on greater responsibility and continue using their technical design skills.
