The QHSE Systems Manager reports to the Director National QHSE. The role is to ensure ISO compliance across KION ITS UK&I organisation. To establish, develop, implement and maintain business systems, policies and procedures. Work as part of an integrated team within the QHSE and wider UK and Ireland business operation.

  • Promptly elevate any issues with ISO system performance to the appropriate senior management and develop resolution action plans where required.
  • Share all significant findings and relevant activities in the pursuit of QHSE delivery and performance.
  • Ensure scheduled IMS systems reviews are undertaken with respective senior leadership teams.
  • As a role model, actively and visibly guide and support company staff to develop and implement initiatives aimed to continuously improve IMS System performance ensuring the overall scope of the IMS is consistent and appropriate for the business needs.
  • Advise the business around external stakeholder engagement (Accreditation schemes, warrants, statutory reporting, etc.).
  • Advise and guide the business around internal stakeholder requirements & resources (WeSustain).
  • Actively support both the analysis & effective close-out of customer satisfaction monitoring.
  • Undertake regular self-development & horizon scanning to guide the business on the appropriate scope and development of the respective IMS.
  • Manage migration to latest versions of ISO standards when updates released.
  • Lead the development of internal IT information systems such as SharePoint for all respective product brands.
  • Monitor internal audit programme & regular scheduled visits to all relevant company remote sites and activities to ensure appropriate IMS expectations are understood and complied with, engage with all relevant personnel to gain a balanced evaluation of QHSE effectiveness.
  • Represent where required & support relevant customer-facing activities as required by the business support requests for IMS / QHSE support and information.
  • Advise and guide the region and central procurement function with the appropriate level of contractor compliance & control.
  • Develop, maintain and improve the Linde & STILL IMS to underpin QHSE management standards, lead & proactively support all regional internal / external QHSE audit activities, audit & test quality, safety and environmental systems in line with current ISO standards.
  • Actively participate in supporting or leading process creation, amendment & improvement including process mapping across the organisation.
  • Actively support the quality and findings of all incident management systems (P0123 & 6); advise on root cause analysis and, where required, advise on effective close-out.
  • Ensure compliance & readiness to deploy the crisis management plan if required across the operation along with a robust escalation process, maintain & regularly test business continuity plans for all business streams.
  • Provide support & guidance to ensure complete compliance with all statutory inspection requirements.

Personal Objectives:

  • Undertake an appropriate level of continual professional development activities to remain abreast of all relevant ISO / QHSE topics.
  • Work closely with team to provide a robust and consistent level of ISO Systems excellence.
  • To take on any additional duties as required by the Director National QHSE to ensure smooth running of the department and any other duties which arise as a result of the above.

Tasks and Qualifications:

  • Gravitas combined with agility.
  • Personal accountability and resilience.
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills with the ability to interact and build relationships at all organisational levels (including matrix).
  • Able to develop and execute strategies, plans and budgets in line with overall business objectives.
  • Able to communicate effectively and openly at all levels including EMEA region.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of both existing and impending QHSE legislation with the ability to interpret, prioritise and leverage best practice.
  • ISO 14001 Audit experience (formal lead Auditor qualification ideally).
  • Professional membership of IOSH or equivalent (including NEBOSH Environmental Management).
  • Demonstrable QHSE leadership experience within a service / manufacturing industry or other relevant process environment.
  • Environmental qualification desirable.
  • Sustainability qualification / practical experience desirable.
  • Demonstrable ISO systems experience required within a service / manufacturing industry or other relevant process environment.
  • Advanced IT skills including Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
  • Analytical capability within the context of the job role.
