As a Controls Engineer, you will be directly involved in designing and implementing control solutions for world-class automated material handling systems and execute this by ensuring consistent standards and driving continuous improvement within the design team.
You will leverage your expertise in controls engineering to provide software design for PLC’s, HMIs, and SCADA systems following this through to the testing and commissioning phases while having an awareness of the cost, timescale, and requirements of the material handling project.

Tasks and Qualifications:
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver the assigned project scope and tasks by meeting\\exceeding our safety, quality, On-Time-Delivery and budget requirements.
Produce PLC software and/or visualization systems.
Emulate the control system in a virtual environment and test PLC software.
Interpret electrical schematics and design input information.
Deliver controls engineering activities related to project design and implementation.
Ensure systems designed and supplied are CE Compliant to the Machinery Directive
Produce of all associated documentation including, but not limited to, design calculations, design specifications, Method Statements and Risk Assessments, operation and maintenance manuals, and test specifications.
Commission controls systems on site and to provide support to system commissioning activities and training for the end user.
Maintain good relationships with all internal and external customers, through the provision of a high-quality service.
Promote personal and business continuous improvement and development of processes to achieve improved time cost and quality or project delivery.
Qualifications & Experience:
A Bachelor\’s or Master\’s degree in Engineering is desirable however those with a HNC/HND in Electrical/Mechatronics/Controls Engineering will also be considered.
Experience in designing controls systems in Siemens S7 or TIA Portal.
Extensive proven hands-on experience working within an industrial automation environment.
Good understanding of PLC development tools.
Proficient with Industrial Networks such as Profinet, Profibus, ASi, EthernetIP or similar.
Experience working with E-plan is desirable not essential.
Good understanding of Electrical and Electronic technical manuals & drawings.
Understanding of design requirements such as Machine Directive and its standards.
Good understanding of distributed control systems.
Extensive understanding of software testing and emulation.
Full UK Driving Licence as the position will require travel up to 60% of the time to customer sites both in the UK and across EMEA.
