Linde Material Handling offers a range of challenging careers across the country and we are keen to talk to you about the direction in which you would like your career to go. We are currently looking for a Shift Supervisor to join the team on a client site in Liverpool.

Reporting to the Workshop Manager, as the Shift Supervisor you will be responsible for the smooth running of the shift engineers and battery operatives, ensuring safety concerns, people issues and operational constraints are dealt with professionally and efficiently. The Supervisor role is currently required to work a two-shift pattern, which is currently 0545-1415 hrs and 1300-2130 hrs. Flexibility is required, to allow us to support our customer's requirements, which may change; this could therefore include a requirement to work nights or a continental shift pattern.

What does the role involve:
  • To take the lead in all aspects of Health and Safety ensuring H&S initiatives and requirements are acted upon and communicated to the relevant forum or individuals.
  • Managing the work flow through the workshop, including monitoring access to the workshop by visitors and ensuring all engineers are working in a safe non-congested area.
  • Implement 5S standards across all shifts in addition to Visual Factory standards.
  • Regular audits of the canteen and locker room at start and end of a shift reporting any issues as they become apparent.
  • Monthly audit of all areas we are responsible for, and resolution or escalation of issues as appropriate.
  • Coordinating daily Quality Cost Delivery Morale.
  • Ensuring parts ready for repair have been correctly identified with Fleet number and Job number and shipping documents are ready, actively participate in parts process improvement.
  • Managing Allianz inspections, ensuring you are aware of inspection dates, and all equipment is available prior to the visit.
  • Production of quotes for trucks with damage, on the same shift the damage is reported.
  • Actively manage workflow.
  • Monitoring of Engineers job pool with escalation for trucks in workshop for more than 24 hrs.
  • Sign off Job sheet after work completed for engineers on shift, ensuring an adequate description is given for the work completed.
  • Production of ad hoc reports requested by the Customer (periodic reports will be produced by the office admin team).
  • The shift handover should cover a walk of the workshop to identify all trucks in the workshop, both work in progress, and awaiting parts. An audit of the tool lockers and the wash bay should also be completed. Any issues or cause for concern must be communicated to supervisors and site Manager.
  • Ensure that engineers have the relevant skills, knowledge and experience to complete their work and administration duties to the highest standards.
  • To take on any additional duties as required by the Workshop Manager to ensure smooth running of the department and any other duties which arise as a result of the above.
Responsibilities and Requirements:

This role will require you to have a forklift engineering background, or experience in a very similar industry. You will be a good people manager and be able to show strong leadership skills. Working closely with our customer, you will be expected to have excellent customer skills. Candidates will need to be IT literate - there are a number of Linde and client systems which are used on a daily basis. The ability to work in a busy and demanding environment is essential as is the ability to manage your time effectively. You will also be required to have a flexible approach to be able to adapt to ensure the business meets its objectives. You will need to hold a full UK driving licence for this role.
