Main purpose of the position

To carry out service and repairs to equipment on customer sites in a safe, professional and cost effective manner, maintaining documentation of all works carried out in line with Health and Safety and Quality procedures.

This position is based at the Booker site in Newport looking after the Linde trucks on site.

Main Duties and Accountabilities (recommended up to 10 points)

  • Servicing/Repairs material handling equipment, and other specified equipment on site.
  • Ordering of parts as efficiently as possible & ensure all stock levels/movement records are accurate & correct.
  • To dispose of all waste products relating to the repair/service of the MHE using approved waste disposal companies.
  • Ensure automated system & all paperwork is completed accurately & within the stipulated time period & with the relevant order numbers.
  • To ensure site stock is monitored/counted and sufficient for the day to day maintenance of the fleet.
  • Ensure servicing & WIP are kept up to date.
  • Maintain a safe working environment & work in a safe manner, ensuring site rules and regulations are followed at all times.
  • Report any unsafe practices or potential hazards immediately.
  • To provide reliable information to the customer with regards to maintenance, consultation on repairs and to provide advice on the use of equipment.
  • To carry out inspections and monitor the safety of the repaired and maintained trucks.
  • To liaise with the Service Controller, customer and Service Manager to ensure information regarding individual forklifts and equipment is shared including damage or requests for a replacement truck in the event of a long repair, as well as keeping all relevant parties up to date with the progress of work activities.
  • To work closely with the sales & STR team and refer leads.
  • To accurately complete job sheets, timesheets and purchase requisitions and parts paperwork within the required timescale.
  • To make proposals for the improvement of the implementation of work activities and work conditions.
  • To take responsibility for all equipment and tooling (including van/laptop/printer etc) and ensure that it is in a safe, clean condition for the type of work being undertaken. where van is required due to site requirements.
  • To take responsibility for van weight and safe/roadworthy condition before use. where van is required due to site requirements.
  • To work to and understand KPI’s relating to service, admin and stock.
  • To ensure that a clean and safe working environment is maintained at all times.
  • To actively participate in training days, work meetings, and other meetings for the exchange of information.
  • To maintain familiarization with Linde MH UK Ltd/STILL Materials Handling Ltd policies & procedures & adhere to these. E. g. IT Policy, absence policy etc.
  • To attend training courses to maintain up to date knowledge of equipment.
  • Liaise direct with customer to maintain maximum MHE up time & customer satisfaction.
  • Liaise with STR controller and assist with management of STR fleet on site.
  • Ensure that records relating to VOR machines, battery repairs, and battery topping are kept up to date and circulated to relevant people.
  • Carry out risk assessments on all work processes and develop safe working practices in accordance with current health and safety legislation.
  • Support the development of engineers through practical training and mentoring.
  • Undertake additional training and/or qualifications provided by Linde MH UK Ltd/STILL Materials Handling Ltd.
  • Make your line manager aware of any site developments or changes in customer needs.
