Our busy veterinary hospital in Saffron Walden is seeking an enthusiastic, motivated and dedicated Registered Veterinary Nurse to provide care for our overnight inpatients. This is a great opportunity to join an experienced team of 14 nurses and 10 vets. There will be a lot of variety and a chance to learn new skills. Experience of caring for critical inpatients is preferred as this is a sole charge RVN role with Vet back up off site.
Working on a rolling pattern of 6 nights on and 6 nights off, the rota allows you to plan in advance and you'll have lots of downtime to focus on the priorities that matter to you. Work life balance is important to us at Mercer and Hughes and we believe our rota pattern strikes the perfect balance. Week day shifts are between the hours of 8pm – 8am with weekend shifts covering hours between 7pm and 8am. There is also the opportunity to pick up additional hours.
Our experienced team will ensure you have all the support and development you need. We have nurses with cat behaviour, ECC and anaesthesia certificates as well as nurses who hold qualifications in rehabilitation. If there is a particular interest which will benefit the practice we will look at helping to fund should it be over the £500 CPD allowance. We actively encourage further studies.
The hospital offers a great working space which has a brand new separate dog and cat ward and also consists of an in-house laboratory, modern theatre and x-ray with ample off-road parking. The hospital is also fully equipped with orthopaedic equipment and endoscopes. We are close to all amenities and a short walk from town and transport links with beautiful countryside right on our doorstep. We are proud to be providing high standard inpatient, emergency and critical care to our patients so are looking for a proactive individual to maintain standards. We recognise that our people are fundamental to the success of our business. Investing in our people, premises and processes is at the heart of what we do.
In addition to a competitive salary, you will benefit from:
- 5 weeks annual leave
- Enhanced family‑friendly policies, including maternity/paternity/adoption/shared parental and surrogacy pay
- Private medical insurance
- Cycle to work scheme
- Non-accidental injury support
