We are looking for a Veterinary Care Assistant (VCA) to join our team at Reed Veterinary Surgery in Royston.

About the Role
As a Veterinary Care Assistant, you'll play a vital role in ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the practice and delivering outstanding care to our patients.
Supporting our Veterinary Surgeons and Registered Veterinary Nurses, you'll help create a calm, clean and welcoming environment for both pets and their owners.
No two days are the same, making this an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys a varied, hands-on role and thrives in a busy veterinary practice.
- Your Responsibilities
- Supporting the clinical team with patient care and handling.
- Preparing consulting rooms, theatres and clinical areas.
- Cleaning and maintaining equipment to a high standard.
- Assisting with the care and comfort of hospitalised patients.
- Maintaining excellent hygiene and infection control throughout the practice.
- Restocking clinical areas and monitoring supplies.
- Supporting the wider team with day-to-day practice tasks.
- Providing a warm, compassionate experience for clients and their pets.
About You
We're looking for someone who is caring, proactive and enjoys working as part of a supportive team.
You don't need to know everything on day one—we're happy to support your development—but you should be enthusiastic, reliable and passionate about animal welfare.
You'll ideally have
- Experience working with animals or within a veterinary environment (preferred but not essential).
- A positive, can-do attitude and willingness to learn.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Great organisation and attention to detail.
- The ability to remain calm and compassionate in a busy clinical environment.
- A genuine passion for delivering exceptional patient and client care.
