Assignment Type: Residential - Contract

Start Date: 1st August 2026

Location: Esbjerg, Denmark

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8 Hours per day

Department: Engineering & Construction (E&C)

Location to Perform the Work: Full Time Onshore

Scope of Work

The Senior Mechanical Engineer - Static position is responsible for providing mechanical engineering support within the Engineering & Construction department and supporting other departments such as Business Development, CFR, Field Operations.

Responsibilities include:

  • Providing mechanical engineering support for modification projects on existing installations, supporting project managers from engineering through commissioning.
  • Ensuring detailed design packages meet safety, layout, constructability, pipe stress, and shutdown criteria.
  • Participating in design meetings, risk assessments (HAZOP, HAZID), Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and providing onshore or offshore support during construction, mechanical completion, commissioning, and start‑up.
  • Developing conceptual solutions for new RFMs, including technical descriptions, budget and timeline estimates (Statement of Requirements).
  • Managing conceptual and feasibility studies, coordinating external design contractors and internal stakeholders.

Typical Activities

  • Define design basis and premises.
  • Piping and equipment layout and design.
  • Stress calculations for piping systems and equipment (nozzle loads, PSV/BDV relief).
  • Transient analysis of mechanical systems (vibrations, thermal changes, dynamic events).
  • Incident investigation of corrosion, vibration and fatigue issues.
  • Fitness For Service (FFS) assessments in accordance with API 579.
  • Compliance with ANSI/ASME, EN, ISO and manufacturer standards.
  • Preparation of mechanical data sheets for valves, pressure vessels, tanks, pumps and special piping parts.
  • Detailed design review and input to other disciplines.
  • Piping isometrics, pipe supports and equipment layout drawings.
  • Vendor discussions (piping, control valves, pressure vessels, pumps).
  • Technical involvement in procurement as Technical Approver.
  • Preparation of derogation requests and input to FSS.
  • Participation in and close‑out of actions: design review, HAZOP, HAZID, start‑up review, HSE Synergi case closure, investigation & incident reports, mechanical completion, commissioning, PIMS, FAT/SAT, offshore testing, EPC contract preparation/review, project management, interface coordination, third‑party verification.

Background / Qualification / Experience

Qualification level: Level 6 – Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.

Technical skills: Mechanical engineering education; extensive experience in static mechanical piping and equipment design, pipe stress and fatigue evaluations, NDT & welding processes; detailed knowledge of materials and QC as Technical Approver in Material Master Data Creation System.

Behavioural competencies: Strong decision‑making for process safety. Independent, efficient problem solving. Collaboration with onshore and offshore stakeholders. Structured work approach and prioritization. Result‑driven attitude.

Language skills: Fluent in written and spoken English.

Specific knowledge:

  • Significant knowledge of offshore oil and gas industry.
  • Extensive experience in static mechanical discipline (piping & equipment design and layout).
  • Supervision and guidance during construction, installation, and commissioning.
  • Clear understanding of process safety and Safety Critical Elements.
  • Robust knowledge of company and international standards.

Experience required: Minimum 8‑10 years in the offshore oil and gas industry.
