Role Overview: If you are a hands-on mechanical leader who wants real ownership of plant reliability and a team to develop, this role offers genuine scope on a site running critical process equipment. An established manufacturing operator is looking for a Mechanical Technician Lead to oversee mechanical maintenance and drive safe, efficient operation across the site, with clear routes to grow within the business.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead inspection, troubleshooting, diagnosis and repair of mechanical equipment
- Manage routine maintenance, testing and installation of new equipment
- Oversee planned maintenance activity via the site's maintenance management systems
- Maintain strict control of the Permit to Work system for the internal team and contractors
- Engage and control contractors across civil, mechanical, instrument and electrical work
- Maintain full records and documentation for all mechanical equipment
- Supervise a maintenance team, including day and/or shift-based working patterns
- Ensure safe working practices are upheld across all maintenance activity
Requirements:
- Level 4 Apprenticeship (or equivalent trade experience) in Mechanical Engineering
- Previous experience leading or supervising a maintenance team, either on days or a shift pattern
- ATEX qualification and confidence working in explosive atmosphere environments, ideal
- Experience in a manufacturing, engineering or scientific environment, preferred
- A systematic, logical approach to problem-solving
- Strong communication skills and a good command of English
- Competence with MS Office and standard maintenance management systems, beneficial
- Existing right to work in the UK (this role cannot offer visa sponsorship)
