About the Role
If you're a Technical Safety Engineer ready to lead the discipline on major energy projects, with real influence over how safe plant design is delivered, this is a genuine step up.
You will be working with a well-established engineering organisation on major energy projects across both conventional energy and decarbonisation. Operating at Principal level, you will lead technical safety on larger, more complex projects, shape methodologies, and help develop the engineers around you.

Key Responsibilities
Lead the technical safety discipline on larger and more complex projects
Ensure all activities behind the design of a safe plant are completed
Prepare complex and unique calculations
Check and approve deliverables from more junior engineers and investigate alternative solutions
Act as the discipline technical representative with senior stakeholders and third parties
Manage technical deviations from company standards through to review and approval
Coordinate technical safety resources on complex projects, balancing workload and competencies
Coordinate onsite pre-commissioning, commissioning, start-up, and performance test activities
Support proposals with technical input and discipline manhour estimates
Mentor, coach, and deliver technical safety training to less experienced engineers
Requirements
Sufficient experience to lead large projects across a range of technical safety activities
Ability to oversee work conducted by third-party engineering contractors
Significant technical expertise in at least one relevant area or technology
Strong skills in risk assessment methodologies (preferred)
Detailed knowledge of quality procedures and national and international standards
Excellent communication skills with a collaborative, decision-ready approach
Degree in a relevant engineering discipline (for example, Chemical Engineering), accredited by the relevant chartered institute (for example, IChemE)
