ROLE: Senior Geotechnical Design Engineer
PURPOSE
Produce geotechnical and civil engineering design deliverables for projects in the water and rail industries
Responsibilities
- Provide design deliverables that satisfy safety and quality requirements
- Produce design calculations and drawings
- Direct and develop CAD technicians and more junior designers and graduates
- Prepare design investigations, reports and specifications
- Design in compliance with relevant technical, professional and group standards
- Ensure project change for design packages is fully implemented and recorded
- Undertake work using formal processes and procedures
- Estimate hours required for design packages
- Present and attend internal design review meetings and design presentations
- Required Qualifications & Experience
- 10 years relevant design experience in geotechnical and/or civil engineering
- Good geotechnical understanding including ability to produce ground investigation specifications, interpretive reports and design reports
- Graduate or HND
- Good level of IT capability
- Registered with professional body and working towards chartership
- Experience working in regulated infrastructure industry (e. g. rail, utilities, nuclear, highways, oil and gas)
- Preferred Qualifications & Experience
- Chartered engineer
- Experience in geotechnical and civil engineering design
- Awareness of ground investigation and construction methods and materials
- Knowledge of Engineering Drawing Practices
- Experience working in the water or railway industries
